St. Abbs Harbour Trust
St. Abbs Harbour Trust is a non profit making organisation responsible for maintaining and managing the harbour for the good of the community. The harbour at St. Abbs is the centre of activity in the village, with a large number of local people relying on the harbour for their employment. The harbour is used daily by fishermen, charter boats and pleasure craft.
The maintenance of the harbour and the cost of employing the harbour master are covered by mooring and launching dues, which must be paid by every vessel using the harbour and by charging visitors to park.
Recent Improvements
Recent improves undertaken by the trust include the:
- Replacement of wood around peir;
- Maintenance of Car Park sea wall;
- Installation of electric derricks to assist with the loading and unloading of fishing gear and diver's equipment;
- Replacement of ladders.
It is hoped that further improvement to facilities can be undertaken in the future.
